About Rai Coast District

District Overview

The Rai Coast District Administration Office leads governance and service coordination for the remote and geographically diverse communities of Rai Coast District. Spanning rugged coastal cliffs, fast-flowing rivers, and mountainous interiors, the district comprises four Local-Level Governments: Astrolabe Bay, Nankina-Yupna-Domung (NAYUDO), Nahu Rawa, and Saidor. The local economy hinges on subsistence agriculture, inland fishing, and cash-crop production (cocoa and copra), with emerging opportunities in logging and cultural tourism. The office partners with provincial departments, LLG councils, and community leaders to deliver essential services, promote sustainable livelihoods, and ensure inclusive participation in district planning.
