The Mines, Petroleum & Energy Office operates under the Provincial Industries, Investments & Economic Development framework to steward Madang Province's extractive and energy sectors. It formulates and updates sector policies and regulations, manages licensing and concession processes, and coordinates exploration and development activities in partnership with national agencies. The office ensures revenue and royalty oversight, enforces environmental, health, and safety standards, and drives community engagement and benefit-sharing. It also champions energy planning—promoting renewable projects and electrification initiatives—to expand sustainable power access across the province.
